Of all the sports games releasing this year, there is perhaps none as eagerly awaited as EA Sports College Football 25. It’s release will mark the long-awaited return of the beloved college football video game series from EA.
Previously known as NCAA Football 14, the franchise has undergone a name change but the excitement of returning to the gridiron of your favorite college football team remains the same nonetheless.
EA first announced the return of its college football series back in 2021. But there was still a ton of the publisher to work out in regards to conference and school licensing, player name, image and likeness negotiations and more.
But where there is a will, there’s a way and EA made it work. A few months ago, EA released the first official teaser trailer for EA Sports College Football, confirming “it’s really happening.”
When will EA Sports College Football 25 officially be revealed?
The first teaser trailer for EA Sports College Football 25 didn’t really feature any gameplay. In fact, it wasn’t really much of a teaser at all. We got a look at some of the mascots and team entrances as they’ll appear in the game, but it was still an early work in progress. I’m assuming much more work has been done on the game since then. And we are eager to see more.
So how long will we have to wait?
As confirmed in the trailer, EA Sports College Football 25 will be revealed in May 2024.
This isn’t really aligned with any sort of big EA event, like what we see in the summer. So all we can really do is speculate. I think EA Sports College Football 25 will be revealed in early-to-mid May.
It’s unclear what this reveal will consist of. EA described it as the “full reveal in May,” which means we’ll hopefully get to see actual gameplay and how our favorite schools look in the game.
The trailer will likely be accompanied by some sort of blog post offering top-level details about the game. This will likely probably include things like platforms and possibly a release date, and maybe some key features or details, game modes, and more.
As EA Sports College Football 24 isn’t releasing until July, it leaves EA the month of June — which is when Summer Games Fest takes place — to share more specific details. I’m hoping EA will have some sort of showcase where they can go more in-depth with the features of EA Sports College Football. I know we’re all dying to know more about Dynasty Mode and how offseason recruiting will work.
When will EA Sports College Football 25 be released?
EA has only offered a vague “Summer” launch window, although most reports indicate a July release for EA Sports College Football 25.
This isn’t a huge surprise as the previous NCAA Football games were all released in July. Here are some of the release dates for some of the previous games:
- NCAA Football 14 – July 9, 2013
- NCAA Football 13 – July 10, 2012
- NCAA Football 12 – July 12, 2011
In these three instances, all previous games were released in the second week of July. It’s also worth noting that they were all released on a Tuesday, something that EA has sort of abandoned with its Madden franchise.
Lately, Madden games have officially launched on Fridays, with only those who have early access through pre-ordering one of the special editions able to start playing three days early on a Tuesday.
With this in mind, here are some possible release dates for EA Sports College Football 25:
- Tuesday, July 9, 2024
- Friday, July 12, 2024 (with early access on Tuesday, July 9)
- Tuesday, July 16, 2024
- Friday, July 19, 2024 (with early access on Tuesday, July 16)
If I was a betting man, I’d put my money on Friday, July 12, 2024 for the official release date of EA Sports College Football 25. I don’t think it will be earlier due to the 4th of July holiday.
