A new report from reputable gaming insider Dusk Golem claims that Resident Evil 9 will be released in January 2025. We’ve previously heard an early 2025 release window floated around, but this is the first time we’ve gotten an actual date.
According to Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 9 should be revealed soon, although no timeline was offered. Summer Game Fest is a little over a month away, offering a potential opportunity for Capcom to showcase the latest entry in its mainline action horror franchise.
Summer Game Fest takes place on June 7 with Xbox holding its own Summer Showcase on June 9. Capcom also typically has a Summer event — at least they did last year when they shared more details on Exoprimal, Dragon’s Dogma II, and more.
I suspect Capcomc could offer some sort of teaser for Resident Evil 9 in the weeks leading up to Summer Game Fest, followed by a more in-depth reveal during the actual event.
January 2025 I hadn't heard now, just been a date I'd heard previously they probably are still aiming for, but never know in game dev.
I won't leak/rumor any other details of the game, just let Capcom do their thing & let them surprise people.

Dusk Golem has previously reported that Resident Evil 9 will more towards more of an open-world environment after Capcom successfully leveraged the Re engine to create an open-world experience for Dragon’s Dogma 2.
That’s all we have for now, but stay tuned as we continue to report on release dates for all your favorite video games!
About Resident Evil
Resident Evil is a long-running franchise from Capcom that first began in 1996. The series initially started as a survival horror, but has gradually changed into more of an action horror feel over time.
2017’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and 2021’s Resident Evil 7 returned to the survival horror roots of the franchise. Resident Evil is Capcom‘s best-selling franchise and the best-selling horror game series, with 154 million copies sold worldwide as of December 2023.
The video game franchise’s success has sparked numerous spin-offs, including television shows and feature films. Unfortunately, the films have not been as well-received as the games.
