Grand Theft Auto 6 - GTA 6

GTA 6 release date: Is Grand Theft Auto 6 now coming in late 2025?

When Rockstar Games revealed Grand Theft Auto 6, the developer announced it would be released sometime in 2025. Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive had indicated the blockbuster title would arrive during FY25, which runs from April 1, 2024, through March 31, 2025.

However, that may no longer be the case. During Take-Two’s latest earnings call, the company provided a lower revenue guidance for FY25. With how much money Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to generate, the lower guidance would seemingly indicate that GTA 6 will not be released during the FY25 window.

If that’s the case, then Grand Theft Auto 6 should arrive at some point during Take-Two’s FY26 period, which runs from April 1, 2025 through March 31, 2026.

Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two have announced any sort of delay for Grand Theft Auto 6 which would mean the game is still on track for a 2025 launch. If that’s the case, then the earliest it seems we can look forward to playing the game is April 1, 2025.

For comparison, Grand Theft Auto 5 was released in September 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360, in November 2014 for PS4 and Xbox One and in April 2015 for PC. With how popular the Grand Theft Auto franchise is, it doesn’t really matter when the game will be released because it’s going to sell multiple millions of copies.

Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.

As the synopsis teases, GTA 6 will take us to Leonida, which seems to be the franchise equivalent to Florida as it’s home to Vice City (the series’ version of Miami and Miami Beach). For the first time in the series, players will take on the role of a female protagonist, Lucia, who begins her journey under the shadow of Vice City’s prison bars.

Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at some point in 2025. No PC version has been announced yet, but Rockstar will almost certainly be porting the game at some point. It took two years for GTA 5 to come to PC, so hopefully it won’t take that long.
