The 2023-24 NFL season is drawing to an end with just one more game to be played. Super Bowl LVIII will be played on Sunday, February 11 and will feature a matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
As we prepare to bid farewell to the 2023-24 NFL season with Super Bowl LVII, we can start looking ahead to next season, specifically Madden NFL 25. Now there already was a Madden 25 which was released in 2013 and was titled as such in celebration of the franchise’s 25th anniversary. But in doing so, it threw off the whole numbered pattern for EA.
We don’t really know what this year’s Madden game will be called, but for now, let’s just refer to it as Madden NFL 25 since that’s technically what it should be. In any case, when can we look forward to Madden NFL 25’s reveal and release date?
When will Madden NFL 25 be revealed?
You would think that a game as big as the Super Bowl would be the perfect opportunity for EA to reveal the next Madden game, but don’t get your hopes up. EA has never revealed a Madden game during the Super Bowl and almost certainly won’t this year.
The next big date for the NFL is the rookie draft in April. In the past, EA used the NFL Draft as a platform to spotlight the year’s upcoming Madden game, but recently EA has waited.
Both Madden 23 and Madden 24 were revealed in summer, in early June. We expect the same will be true for this year’s game.
The reveal typically consists of a press release announcing the cover athlete, platforms and special editions, any new gameplay features.
When will Madden NFL 25 be released?
Again, all we can do is speculate on the release date but if we look back at EA’s typical timeline for Madden games it should be easy to predict when Madden 25 will be released. Looking back on the past few Madden games, they’ve all released in August.

- Madden 23 released on August 16, 2022
- Madden 22 released on August 17, 2021
- Madden 21 released on August 28, 2020
- Madden 20 released on August 2, 2019
As you can see, the release date for Madden is always in August, usually a few weeks before the NFL season kicks off. The 2024-25 NFL season begins on September 5, which means we should get Madden 25 a few weeks earlier.
Another thing to note is that new games typically release on Tuesday, but EA now uses that as an early access period for pre-ordering the game and then having the full release on the Friday of that same week. With that in mind, here are the possible release dates for Madden 25:
- Friday, August 9 (Tuesday, August 6 for early access)
- Friday, August 16 (Tuesday, August 13 for early access)
- Frida, August 23 (Tuesday, August 20 for early access)
