Black Mirror Season 6: Netflix release date, episode count and more

Black Mirror’s sixth season is long overdue but thankfully fans won’t have to wait much longer. Netflix shared the first official trailer for Season 6 of the dystopian sci-fi anthology series, confirming it will arrive on the streaming platform on June 15th.

Back Mirror Season 6 Episode List, Synopsis and Cast

Season 6 will be comprised of six episodes. Each is a standalone short story with its own world, own reality, own nightmare. Because it’s an anthology series, you’ll be able to watch them in any order.

Here are the five episodes of Black Mirror Season 6, along with a brief synopsis of each.

Episode 1: Joan Is Awful

An average woman is stunned to discover a global streaming platform has launched a prestige TV drama adaptation of her life — in which she’s portrayed by Hollywood A-lister Salma Hayek Pinault.

Joan is Awful stars Anne Murphy as Joan, while Salma Hayek Pinault plays a fictionalized version of herself, who’s then playing Murphy’s Joan on the Streamberry TV show. The episode also stars Michael Cera as Beppe, who appears to be in on the twist that “Joan Is Awful” is “an adaptation of Joan’s life.

Episode 2: Loch Henry

A young couple travel to a sleepy Scottish town to start work on a genteel nature documentary, but find themselves drawn to a juicy local story involving shocking events of the past.

Samuel Blenkin plays Davis, a film school student with a good hard but insecurities, who wants to be the next Stanley Kubrick. Myha’la Herrold plays Pia, a fellow filmaker and Davis’ girlfriend. The episode also stars Daniel Portman as Stuart, a Scottish lad, and John Hannah as Stuart’s father Richard.

Episode 3: Beyond the Sea

In an alternative 1969, two men on a perilous high-tech mission wrestle with the consequences of an unimaginable tragedy.

Aaron Paul plays Cliff Stanfield, an astronaut who is two-years into his six-year mission in deep space with a wife and son back on Earth. He’s joined by Josh Hartnett’s David Ross, who also has family back on Earth. Kata Mara plays Cliff’s wife, Lana Stanfield, while Auden Thornton plays David’s wife, Jessica Ross.

Episode 4: Mazey Day

A troubled starlet is dogged by invasive paparazzi while dealing with the consequences of a hit-and-run incident.

Clara Rugaard plays Mazey Day, a troubled starlet who’s hounded by paps, while Zazie Beetz plays Bo, one of those invasive paps.

Episode 5: Demon 79

Northern England, 1979. A meek sales assistant is told she must commit terrible acts to prevent disaster.

Anjana Vasan plays meek sales assistant Nida, while Paapa Essiedu plays Gaap, described as a “unique individual.”

Black Mirror Season 6 is set to premiere on Netflix on June 15th.
